The Nogales Police Dept. have located and arrested a second suspect, Stephen Patrick Bacon of Sonoita, in connection with a bank robbery that took place on Sept. 13 at approximately 3:15pm at the First Convenience Bank located inside the Nogales Walmart.
Bacon, 64, was booked last week into the Santa Cruz County Jail for three charges: conspiracy to commit armed robbery, failure to yield or stop for law enforcement, and facilitation to commit armed robbery.
Javier Romo-Angulo, 31, also a suspect in the robbery, was first booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on one count of armed robbery, a week prior to Bacon and is suspected of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.
Police say Romo-Angulo walked out of the bank with the stolen money and got into a waiting car driven by Bacon. Bacon was pulled over a short time later on 1-19N by the SCC Sheriff’s Office and ADOT and taken into custody, but Romo-Angulo was no longer in the vehicle, but police were able to find and arrest him a short time later. Police believe Bacon let Romo-Angulo out of the vehicle at a different location prior to being stopped by police.
Both men have had numerous prior charges and citations dating back to 2012.
