The community is invited to participate in Veterans Day ceremonies at the Patagonia Cemetery. Ceremonies are being organized by Patagonia resident Murphy Musick. With the help from community members, the Patagonia Museum and friends, Musick oversees the placing of flags on all veterans’ graves at the cemetery.

Those interested in participating are invited to meet at the cemetery at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, to “team up and have fun looking at each and every headstone to determine any clues as to their military service,” Musick said. “All worn flags will be replaced. The flags look beautiful, and it is surprising how many there are.”

Then, on Nov. 11, community members are invited to a ceremony at the cemetery flagpole at 11 a.m. “I think that the cemetery offers a tangible site for reflection upon our past in a very personal way,” Musick said. “I would like to invite residents of Patagonia to help Honor our Veterans.”

Know a military member?

In addition to our deceased veterans, the PRT has been asked to assist with the daunting task of compiling a list of our community’s living military personnel – both active and discharged. If you or someone you know fits that criteria, drop us a line at prtdast@gmail.com so that these servicemen and women can be properly honored. We’ll keep an ongoing list in hopes of publishing it prior to Veterans Day 2027.
