Chief Ike Isakson has announced his retirement as chief of the Patagonia Volunteer Fire
and Rescue Company. His last day as acting chief will be June 30.
“It’s time to relieve some stress, not spend hours at the computer, and learn to relax a little, which I probably won’t be able to do, but I’ll try,” Isakson said this morning. “My heart attack a month ago was a wake-up call that’s it’s time. I will remain an active member of the PVFR, just without the stress of being chief.”
The new chief, who will be elected at the company’s June 1 meeting, will take the reins on July 1. Assistant Chief Tim Regan is the likely candidate to become the new chief while Zay Hartigan will presumably become deputy/assistant chief.
Isakson said he is looking forward to seeing many of his friends and supporters at the PVFR Steak Fry on June 29.
