Information for 2024 Fourth of July Celebration in Patagonia

County Sheriff Candidates Tackle Debate Questions

Town of Patagonia’s 2024 Primary Election

By Summer Smith The Town of Patagonia’s Election Director, Isabel Van Nest is busy gearing up for the 2024 Primary Election. This year the Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, July 30 from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers located at 310 McKeown Ave. You can request an early ballot in writing during Town Hall hours Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On this year’s ballot are four candidates running for three council member positions: Ronald Reibslager, Gary Retherford, Michael Stabile and Anita Francesca Claverie. A candidate must receive 51% of votes cast to be immediately elected. Votes cast are the total number of people who voted. Candidates with less than 51% votes cast will have a run-off on November 5th in the general election. Thank you, Patagonia, for coming out and voting.

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

What Lucy was born to do was greet anyone she thought would be her friend. This was primarily carried out with a cadenced and enthusiastic bark and the wagging of a full-on tail. The library, Global Arts, the post office, High Noon Feed, Sonoita Hardware, the visitor center, Donna and Ron Reibslager—all were on her radar.

The PRT is committed to sharing details and information about upcoming community events with our readers at no cost in our weekly e-newsletter. We will share a link to your event page or poster, or a brief description of each event. Please share your events via email at least one week before the event date. Poster submissions require a JPEG format along with a brief typed description about the event in your email to Nisa Talavera, Assistant Editor at prtasted@gmail.com. All submissions for the Wednesday e-newsletter must be submitted by Monday, 5pm.

Upcoming Events

A memorial service for Brenda Braswell will be held at the Elgin Community Club, 475 Elgin Road, Elgin, Arizona, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 am. Lunch will follow the service, and contributions of desserts are appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sonoita-Elgin Fire Department, 3173 AZ-83, Sonoita, AZ 85637. The Patagonia Senior Center recently received a grant from Delta Dental of Phoenix to help seniors with dental expenses. Vouchers are provided for up to $350 to participating dentists. If interested, please call the senior center at (520) 394-2494.

The Patagonia Museum has joined the Jim Click Millions for Tucson Raffle fundraiser. The grand prize is a 2024 Jeep Wrangler.100% of proceeds sold by the Patagonia Museum will benefit the museum.
