The June 29 Sheriffs’ Candidates’ Forum, hosted by the Patagonia Regional Times, is part of the PRT’s ongoing voter education effort to help voters make informed decisions. We believe that it is imperative as a democracy that we have informed and active participation in government and that local news has a mandate to take an active role in this process. We hope that through this video, you will learn more about the candidates and their vision for our county.
The candidates who participated in the forum were:
- Jose “Joe” Agosttini (Dem)
- Travis Arnold (I)
- Rafael “Rafita” Corrales (Dem)
- Sheriff David Hathaway (Dem, incumbent)
- Andrew Ibarra (Dem)
- Mario “Toro” Morales (Dem)
The five Democratic contenders will be facing off in the July 30 primary. Travis Arnold will be facing the winner of the primary in the November election.
The forum was moderated by Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge Thomas Fink.
We are excited to be partnering with “We Love Nogales,” a digital platform that broadcasts events and interviews throughout Santa Cruz County, to reach an even larger audience for our political forums.
Please plan to attend the PRT’s District Three Board of Supervisor Candidates’ Forum in Patagonia at the Tin Shed Theater on Saturday, July 13 at 2pm. All three candidates for District 3 Supervisor have confirmed that they will be here. We will also be streaming this event on our Facebook page and will post it to our YouTube channel.
