The Patagonia Pool is OPEN!

It opened on April 14 after much work from an entire tribe of volunteers. Until school is out, the pool schedule is: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, lap swim from 10-11:30 a.m. and Water Aerobics from 11:45-1 p.m. Wednesday evening swim from 6-8 p.m. (Wed. evening is dependent on having volunteers to open and close the pool and lifeguards, so please check the Patagonia Regional Aquatics Center (PRAC) Facebook page for the latest opening and closing information), Friday open swim from 1-3 p.m.

PRAC has contracted with Euvori Aquatics to provide and manage the lifeguards this year. Paid lifeguard positions are available through Euvori Aquatics. Interested youth and adults can apply at https://www.euvori.com . Trained PRAC volunteers are maintaining the pool under the supervision of a Certified Pool Operator (another PRAC volunteer). Volunteers are always needed—for opening, closing, cleaning and maintaining the pool; for grant writing and fundraising, for assistance with events. Email to volunteer at: patagoniapool1@gmail.com or talk to someone at the pool.

Entrance fees are $5 for adults, $3 for teens, veterans and first responders, and children 12 and under are free. Season passes and discounted punch cards or tickets are in the works and will be announced via Facebook.

Summer hours will begin after Memorial Day, exact date to be determined. The plan is to be open Monday through Saturday with an evening swim on Wednesdays. Schedules will be posted and updated on Facebook.

Homeowners aren’t the only ones facing difficulties with insurance coverage. For pools too, management decisions are having to be made in order to continue to qualify for insurance coverage. PRAC continues to work through these issues to be able to offer the citizens of Patagonia and Eastern Santa Cruz County the wide range of aquatic programs they want.

All of this comes with larger price tags and PRAC works every angle to bring in adequate funding throughout the year: grants, fundraising sales (yard, craft and bake), use fees, and of course, donations. Look for new fun and fundraising events as the year progresses.

Donations are needed and can be made anytime either by:
