July 5th saw some new faces managing the Vineyard Café on Hwy 82 just past the intersection in Sonoita. Roxann (“without an E!”, she states) Valenzuela has formed an LLC partnership with the owners of the cafe to offer another dining choice for locals in the Sonoita/Elgin area. Valenzuela specializes in Mexican fare but also has many other options to choose from.
An Elgin resident, Valenzuela moved here from Aguila, Arizona 13 years ago. Self taught, Valenzuela loves cooking and people. She has followed her passion and been practicing her trade for 30 years. She currently has four employees, is open for breakfast and lunch, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, but plans on expanding her hours in the fall to include an evening or two and offering a fish fry. The café does have a liquor license but Valenzuela is still building her inventory to stock the bar.
Sonoita /Elgin is fortunate to have yet another culinary option for breakfast and lunch. Valenzuela and her staff welcome all to stop in and try out their menu.
