If Walter Andrew was asked to take photos of an event for the Patagonia Regional Times—like the Pie Auction or the Fall Festival—he would dutifully comply with a few panoramic shots of the crowd, and then set his sights on his true interest—taking close-ups of people. He’d wander around through the crowd, pausing to chat with people and snapping a few shots each time. Coaxing a smile with small talk and humor until they were at ease, he captured his subjects in a way that was both flattering and revealing.
