Stop the Rape of the San Rafael Valley
I’ve been living in Patagonia for the last five years. I am an expert with 40-plus years of experience in electronic security systems, specializing in perimeter protection. One of my current clients is the Department of Homeland Security.
As an expert in this field, I know that there is no rational justification for building a steel wall across the San Rafael Valley. Electronic security systems are more reliable, less obtrusive and cost less than 5%.
I have the facts and figures available to anyone that would like to see the details. The bottom line is: Total 30-Year Cost Per Mile for the steel wall is about $65-75 million vs electronic security $1.1-1.5 million per mile x 25 miles.
The only reason I can think of why the Trump admin is so gung ho to build a steel wall, and throw away OVER a billion dollars of taxpayers money doing it, is purely political, it fulfills Trump’s promise to “Build the Wall,” it has shock value, it is something he can point at and say look what I did, yes it will unforgettable.
The San Rafael Valley deserves to be protected from this outrageous crime against nature.
Some of the damage done to the San Rafael Valley will include: Ecosystem disruption and the walls impact on wildlife including mammals, reptiles and migratory birds, the aesthetic degradation of this eyesore that detracts from the natural landscape, environmental and social injustice to the communities on both sides of the border and loss of wilderness.
The San Rafael Valley deserves to be protected from the politicians.
