The five-member Sonoita-Elgin Fire District Board of Directors will conduct a regular meeting on Monday, June 22, at 9 a.m. at the Fire Station at 3173 N. Highway 83 in Sonoita. The meeting is open to the public. Doors will be open at 8:45am.

The agenda for the meeting includes:

  • Presentation, discussion and possible action – Renewal of the Fire Chief’s contract for two years, June 2026 through June 2028. The Board might vote to enter into executive [closed] session, pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03(A)(1), to discuss the Fire Chief’s employment, including his contract terms. Any action on this item will take place in public [open] session. 
  • Public Hearing Fiscal year 2026-2027 Budget – Members of the public are invited to address the Board concerning the proposed budget. 
  • Presentation, discussion and possible action- final adoption of Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget. Any and all revenues and expenditures of the District may be discussed, as well as the anticipated property tax rate. 
  • Review, discussion and possible action – Resolution 2026-02 Public Safety Personnel Retirement System [PSPRS] Funding Policy – Each year the Board is required to adopt a policy establishing its commitment to maintaining stability of its contributions into the system. 
  • Presentation, discussion and possible action- mutual aid agreement between Sonoita-Elgin Fire District and Whetstone Fire District.
