Instructional Model for a Voting Machine, circa 1950s. Photo by Linda Shore

In this timeframe, voting machines were large “phone booth”-type cubicles with many levels and labels that could lead to voter confusion. This deficiency prompted the Automatic Voting Machine Company of Jamestown, New York, to produce an instructional model to be used for practice voting by those new to the process.

This educational tool was donated to the Museum by Jeff Gudenkauf, a Patagonia science teacher.
