The Patagonia Regional Times is hosting two political candidate forums this summer at the Tin Shed Theater. The first will be the Sheriff Candidates Forum, which will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 2 – 4pm. The second forum will occur on July 13, from 2 – 4pm with the Dist. 3 Supervisor Candidates in attendance. Both forums, each scheduled on Saturday afternoons, will provide an opportunity to educate SCC residents about the candidates and this important primary election.
Each forum will be recorded live and available for viewing after the event. During the forums, candidates will have two minutes to introduce themselves. After the introductions, a moderator (Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge Thomas Fink for the Sheriff’s forum and PRT citizen journalist David Lumia for the Supervisor forum) will then ask each candidate questions that have been prepared beforehand. The moderator will determine the order in which the candidates answer questions and each candidate will be given two minutes to answer the question. Each of the other candidates will then be given one minute to respond.
At the conclusion of the forum, the candidates will each be given one minute for a closing statement. Candidates are encouraged to be available to meet with attendees before and after the forum to answer any additional questions from audience members. Mark your calendars, as these forums are sure to be informative. If you have a question that you would like us to ask the candidates, please click here to send an email to the PRT before the forum.
