Getting Ready for Veterans Day in Patagonia

Bent but still strong. Contributed photo

From Murphy Musick:

Veterans Day is Monday, November 11, 2024. The public is invited to join our Patagonia Minstrels and Friends for a flag raising at the VFW Flagpole in the Patagonia Cemetery at 11am.

Veterans Day is a U.S. legal holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare the site on Saturday, November 9 at 9am. We will be replacing the flags on veteransโ€™ graves, picking up litter and doing some weed whacking.

Western Film Books Donated to Library

By Marion Vendituoli

November 2, 2018

In 1991, Bill and Posy Piper, of Patagonia, befriended Carlo Gaberscek, an Italian professor and aficionado of western movies. Twenty-seven years later, as an expression of gratitude to the couple, Gaberscek has sent his latest books, โ€œWesterns in Arizona,โ€ an 1,100-page, two-volume set of the history of movies made in Arizona between 1912 and 1960, which Posy Piper has in turn donated to the Patagonia Library.
