First, what IS the Press Core? The Press Core is a group of dedicated PRT readers who support us on a monthly basis. These recurring monthly donations provide a predictable and stable income stream for the PRT. Joining the Press Core is a powerful way to invest in our mission to bring local news to our community.

Our first Press Core Member of the Month is Sue Archibald. Sue came to the southwest in 1979 to help her mother who had come to Tucson for her health. She and her family happily left the wicked winters of Erie, PA behind, finding the Tucson weather much more agreeable. She likes to spend her free time outdoors, taking walks and enjoying southern Arizona’s mild weather.

She and her husband have six children between them, and 12 grandchildren between ages 14 and 26, with whom she loves spending time.

Sue lived in Tucson until ten years ago when she retired from her position as CEO of Our Family Services, a nonprofit social service organization focused on children, youth and families. She then relocated to Sonoita.

Sue is the District Governor elect of Southern Arizona for Rotary International, promoting the philosophy of Rotary, being the area’s spokesperson and supporting the 51 Rotary Clubs in Southern Arizona. Sue has spent 20 years in Rotary, having been raised in a family of Rotarians. She’s a former president of the Mountain Empire Rotary Club and a former board member of the Patagonia Regional Times.

When asked why she thinks the Press Core is important, Sue explained that she feels that “It’s a commitment to our community. The value of having a reliable local publication in our community is immeasurable. The local information provided by the PRT cannot be found elsewhere, giving our community connectivity which would otherwise be missing.”

Thank you, Sue for being a member of the PRT Press Core and helping us share local stories about issues that matter to our readers.
