
A Sonoita house is a total loss after a Wednesday [Jan. 22] night fire, which was successfully contained by firefighters.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, and the cause is under investigation.
Here is Sonoita-Elgin Fire District (SEFD) Chief Marc D. Meredith’s report from earlier this morning:
Last night just before 10pm, SEFD responded to a reported structure fire on Paint Trail. First arriving units observed heavy fire conditions with flames throughout the building and through the roof. Defensive operations were undertaken and additional resources from Santa Cruz and Pima counties were requested. In total 32 firefighters from SEFD, Patagonia Fire, Rio Rico Fire, Nogales Fire, Tubac Fire, Corona de Tucson Fire and Santa Rita Fire were able to safely contain the fire to the single residence, which was a total loss. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The cause is under investigation.
