Sonoita Elementary School District Superintendent Honored as SOSAZ 2026
Superintendent of the YearElgin, AZ — The Sonoita Elementary School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Daniel Erickson has been named the 2026 Superintendent of the Year by Save Our Schools Arizona Network (SOSAZ) as part of its Champions of Public Education awards.
This recognition honors Erickson’s servant leadership, dedication to students, and steadfast commitment to strengthening public education in a small, rural community. With nearly three decades in education, Erickson continues to focus on building a positive school culture, supporting staff, and improving student outcomes.
“I am deeply honored and grateful for this recognition,” Erickson said. “This award reflects the collective effort of our staff, students, families, and community. Every day, I have the privilege of rowing the boat alongside an incredible team committed to serving children.”
Erickson extended appreciation to Anna Coleman and Mary Darling for their nominations and support, noting that their advocacy for public education makes a meaningful difference for students and schools across Arizona.
The SOSAZ Champions of Public Education celebration will be held March 7 in Phoenix.
