Sept. 30, The Mountain Empire Rotary Club celebrated its 60th anniversary by hosting a progressive style dinner that included three courses, each at a different location along McKeown Avenue. Several guests wore festive attire from the 60s to honor the year the club first received its charter in 1963.

COVID Cases on the Rise at Community Schools

In a letter dated Sept. 29, 2023, Patagonia school district superintendent Kenny Hayes cautioned families about the increase of COVID positive students and the need for social distancing in the classroom. Click here to read the full letter.

ADOT Slams Local Winery with Truck/Trailer Violations

By Kat Crockett On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, ADOT pulled over and inspect a number of trucks and trailers near the intersection of SR 82 and SR 83, including a truck and trailer from Dos Cabezas Winery in Sonoita that was headed to Kansas Settlement. The truck was to pick up wine grapes and bring them to their winery for processing in Sonoita. Over 12 citations were documented.ย  Click here to read more.

Glimpses Into Our Past: The Beebes

After striking it rich in 1911 at the Rainbow mine, George Beebe, age 56, married Edna Woodworth, age 34, and moved to Elgin. There they homesteaded, planted a great orchard and โ€œdry farmedโ€ for 15 years, with their home becoming a focal point in the growing community. Hereโ€™s their story.

The PRT is committed to sharing details and information about upcoming community events with our readers at no cost in our weekly e-newsletter. Due to the large number of submissions, the PRT will no longer be able to post each and every poster in our newsletter. We will share a link to your event page or poster, or a brief description of each event. Each week we will post one or two event flyers. Please share your events via email at least one week prior to the event date. Poster submissions require a JPEG format along with a brief typed description about the event in your email to Nisa Talavera, Assistant Editor at prtasted@gmail.com. All submissions for the Wednesday e-newsletter must be submitted by Monday, 5pm.
