The Patagonia Union High School is thankful to have received such a wonderful teacher this school year, Journee Hayes. She is more than qualified for the job with with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism at NAU, and a teaching degree at Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona.
She is currently finishing her master’s degree in English Literature at South Dakota State University. Mrs. Hayes also has a great deal of teaching experience. She taught at Payson High school for two years, at South Dakota State University for two years, Howard High school in South Dakota for two years, and is currently teaching English and journalism, grades 9 – 12 at Patagonia Union High School.
When asked why she wanted to become a teacher, she responded by saying “Someone once told me that I couldn’t save them all, so I thought to myself, challenge accepted.” Mrs. Hayes’ motives for teaching are uplifting and inspiring to many of Patagonia’s students.
