The Patagonia Lobos are seeded seventh and will host the Fort Thomas Apaches at 6pm Tuesday in the first round of the Class 1A state volleyball playoffs.
The Lobos finished second in the 1A South regional on Saturday, falling to third-ranked St. David by scores of 23-25, 22-25, 19-25. Patagonia defeated San Simon 25-13, 25-9, 25-10 in the regional semifinal on Friday.
The Lobos take a 16-4 overall record into the state playoffs. Three of their losses came against St. David, and the fourth to second-ranked North Phoenix Prep. Fort Thomas is seeded 10th with a 13-5 record and finished second in the 1A East region.
The two teams have met once this season, with Patagonia defeating Fort Thomas in the opening round of the Cochise County Roundup on Aug. 30.
If the Lobos win on Tuesday, they would play the North Phoenix Prep-Gregory School winner on Friday at 1 p.m. at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale.
