Santa Cruz County Recorder has notified the Board of Supervisors of her intent to retire December 31, 2022. County Recorder Sainz’s service to the community spans 27 years as Recorder and an additional 14 years at the County Assessor’s Office. The Board of Supervisors accepted the County Recorder’s resignation at their regular meeting on December 6, 2022.
The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors is now soliciting Letters of Interest and Resumes for appointment to the position of Recorder effective January 1, 2023, to complete the remaining term of office which ends on December 31, 2024. Those qualified to serve as Santa Cruz County Recorder must, at the time of appointment, be: a resident of Santa Cruz County; a citizen of the United States; 18 years of age or older; registered to vote, and able to read and write English.
In addition, pursuant to ARS 16-230, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a person of the same political party as the person vacating the office to fill the portion of the term until the next regular general election. The serving Santa Cruz County Recorder is a member of the Democratic Party.

The deadline to submit a letter of interest is December 14, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.
The Board of Supervisors will consider Letters of Interest and Resumes and may interview and appoint a replacement for the Santa Cruz County Recorder at their scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on December 20, 2022, at 8:30 am.
