Patagonia Clinic Welcomes New Doc

Chavez Named New Deputy County Manager

SCC Manager Jesus Valdez announced this week Finance Director Mauricio Chavez will be the new Deputy County Manager. In an email to his staff, Valdez wrote, “It’s my pleasure to announce that Mauricio Chavez has been promoted to Deputy County Manager, overseeing Human Resources and Administrative Services. The Board of Supervisors supports having an organization of two Deputy Directors to execute the goals and initiatives being planned. Mr. Chavez’s background and skills are a crucial first step in assisting the Board to accomplish their goals. Please help me in congratulating Mauricio in his new position”. Mr. Chavez has worked for the Santa Cruz County government for 10 years, serving as WIOA Director beginning in 2013 until he was promoted to Administrative Services Director in 2016.


CASA Launches New Volunteer Recruitment Campaign

Press Release Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) programs have launched their Fall volunteer recruitment campaigns, “Talk About CASA in Your CASA” and “Get on Board with the FCRB”. The campaign was announced during the Arizona Supreme Court’s, Dependent Children’s Services Division biannual volunteer conference, with this year’s theme being “Volunteers Light the Way”. Volunteers from across the state who share a dedication to the best interests of children in foster care were able to attend. Click here to read more about the campaign.


South32 Hermosa Community Fund Awards $112,000 in Grants to SCC Non-Profits

Press Release The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) announced this week the South32 Hermosa Community Fund has awarded $112,000 to 16 nonprofit organizations in Santa Cruz County. The South32 Hermosa Community Fund, a fund held at Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and its geographic affiliate, the Santa Cruz Community Foundation, supports nonprofit organizations based in Santa Cruz County where South32’s Hermosa project is located. Grand Opening for CCA in Elgin

Photo by Jerry Wilson On Sept. 5, the Crossroads Christian Academy AZ held their grand opening ceremony and first day of classes at the Sonoita Hills Community Church in Elgin. The event was attended by 25 students, friends, family and supporters. The ceremony concluded with a light breakfast and backpacks presented to students and teachers full of back-to-school supplies.

Submitting Community Events to the PRT

The PRT is committed to sharing details and information about upcoming community events with our readers at no cost in our weekly e-newsletter. Due to the large number of submissions, the PRT will no longer be able to post each and every poster in our newsletter. We will share a link to your event page or poster, or a brief description of each event. Each week we will post one or two event flyers. Please share your events via email to prtasted@gmail.com at least one week prior to the event date. Poster submissions require a JPEG format along with a brief typed description about the event in your email. Submissions and or questions should be sent in email to Nisa Talavera, Assistant Editor at prtasted@gmail.com. All submissions for the Wednesday e-newsletter must be submitted by Monday, 5pm.
