Local Students Help to Maintain Area Trail

Contributed photo Borderland Earth Care Youth interns prepare to work on the Patagonia Trail Track Trail.

By German Quiroga

The Borderlands Earth Care Youth worked on the Train Track Trail on June 28 and 29 accompanied by two members of the Mountain Empire Trail Assn. We removed tumbleweeds, distributed 16 seed packets and placed mulch over the seeds and bare spots along the trail. Unfortunately, plenty of tumbleweeds persist along the trail and we did not attempt to work on the low spots on the trail where it gets boggy during the rainy season and the johnson grass proliferates. More work remains.
