The PRT Newsletter for the Week of December 7, 2022

We are just a little more than half way through our year-end NewsMatch campaign and we still need your help! NewsMatch is a collaborative fundraising movement to support independent, public service journalism like ours. Since 2016, the campaign has helped raise over $223 million to jump start emerging newsrooms and support independent media outlets that produce fact-based, nonpartisan news and information.
For a nonprofit organization like us, this is a big deal and will help us deliver the kind of in-depth journalism youโve come to expect, every day. Itโs the kind of reporting that can make a real difference in our community. With another $10,000 needed for us to hit our goal of $27,000, what do you say? Will you help to sustain your trusted source of news?

Local Protesters Slow Construction of Container Border Wall
As of Dec. 7, 466 shipping containers, ordered by AZ Gov. This wall is heading west across the San Raphael Valley towards Santa Cruz County. If the construction crosses the County line, SCC Sheriff David Hathaway vowed last week to arrest the crew working on it for โillegal dumping.โ In contrast to Hathaway, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels supports construction of the container wall. โIt will deter crime and stop criminal behavior,โ he said recently.
