Long Ears Invasion

The ride, organized by Corona De Tucson resident and donkey expert Steve Shaw included participants from British Columbia, the Yukon and Quebec, Canada along with northern Arizona and two locals from Sonoita and Elgin.
French Canadian Dominique Lebrun brought her two donkeys, Pax and Jubi and her two dogs from Quebec heading out in a snow storm and met her long-time friend, Heather Cushman who drove down from the Yukon, in Pole Canyon, TX. Cushman had to be talked into making the trip and, “came down to just hang out and maybe do some bike riding” – until she started riding the donkeys. After that she was hooked and followed Lebrun to Arizona for some more trail riding. Lebrun had heard about Arizona and had planned on driving down but Covid put a delay in her plans until now. “This trip had always been on my bucket list” said Lebrun. Now that they have been here, especially this area of the state, “We will be back next year!”
After some unusually cold and windy weather, the clouds parted, the winds died down and this part of Arizona finally started to behave like it is supposed to this time of year. All had a wonderful time camping and enjoying this magical part of the US.
