The PRT Newsletter for the Week of December 28, 2022

Last year, your donation was essential to helping us reach our goal to qualify for matching funds and enable us to provide the only local source of news in eastern Santa Cruz County, free of charge to all our readers. Just this week we heard from one of the many nonprofits in our community telling us why the PRT is so vital to their mission. Anna Coleman, director of the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center, shared the important role the PRT plays for her local nonprofit organization, one of many that rely on the PRT to share their stories: “I love how the PRT has always embraced and encouraged us here at the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center (PYEC). I depend on the PRT to share the news about what is going on here, whether itโs events taking place at the Youth Center, or highlighting the positive work that the youth are involved in. It gives us a way to let people know whatโs happening here who are not necessarily coming into the PYEC. I can depend on the PRT to get the news out so people know what we’re doing and know how amazing our youth are. So often we hear about the high-achieving athletic and academic students, who are wonderful, but it’s great to share the positive stories of the kids at the Youth Center that otherwise would fly under the radar. The PRT puts a spotlight on the things that they’re doing when it might seem to them that nobody’s really watching. Showcasing these kids is helping to build their self esteem.”
The PRT is proud to help the Youth Center, and so many other local organizations share their stories. Your gift to the PRT not only supports us, but it benefits all the local organizations that depend on us. We need your help before December 31, and would be ecstatic if you would partner with us again. With your gift, we can continue our mission to serve our community, which depends on the PRT to provide the information and news that they need in their daily lives.

Why have some equine enthusiasts made the decision to use mules and/or donkeys instead of the more beautiful, malleable and popular horse? Perhaps a look into the animalโs behavior will help.
