Weather Storm Advisory in Effect 5pm – Today until 11am Thurs. – 3/2
WHAT…Areas of heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of
2 to 6 inches between 4000 and 5000 ft, with 6 to 14 inches at
higher elevations. Peaks could see up to 18 inches of additional snow. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. WHERE…Areas of southeast Pinal, Pima, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Graham, and Greenlee counties above 4000 ft. WHEN…From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM MST Thursday. IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.
Patagonia and Elgin Schools Schedule Delay Due to Weather Forecast for Thurs. Mar. 2
Patagonia Schools – A 2-hour late start tomorrow, March 2nd. Classes will start at 10:30 am, breakfast will be available starting at 10:00 am.
Elgin School – A 2-hour late start tomorrow, March 2nd. Classes will start at 9:55am, limited breakfast will be available from 9:30-9:50am. Buses will run regular routes 2 hrs later than normal schedule.

Forever Young

Last year I sold everything I had to buy a small, secluded finger canyon for my horses. Patagonia’s Young Riders meet out there most mornings for a new adventure. We might just ride to town for coffee, tying up at the new hitching post, or head out from the barn in any direction into the miles of hills and forests that surround us.

Coffee with the Chief – SEFD invites you to come by the station on Saturday, March 4th from 10 – 11:30a.m. for coffee with Chief Meredith. Come learn about SEFD’s new Community Connect program and hear important updates about recently adopted fire codes for the District.
March 5 – 11:45a.m. – The Sunday Community Potluck in Thurber Hall at the Patagonia Community UMC. This popular community event has been missed by many since pre-Covid days. Everyone is welcome! Just bring a smile and dish to share as we begin the year of the church’s Centennial with a Patagonia-style get-together!



Friday March 10, 2023 – Rana A. Murphy, Terrestrial Wildlife Specialist ~Game Management AZGFD; “Rana Murphy, Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Terrestrial Wildlife Specialist responsible for the management of 12 game (or huntable) species of wildlife in Southeastern Arizona, will talk about pronghorn on the Sonoita Plains, with an emphasis on biological features that influence population-level management.”

AZ Community Foundation Scholarship Application
The Arizona Community Foundation’s online scholarship portal is now accepting applications at azfoundation.org/scholarships. Scholarships are available to students in Patagonia and surrounding communities attending postsecondary schools during the 2023-24 academic year. Scholarships are available for high school seniors, current college students, graduate students, or adult re-entry students attending accredited two-year and four-year colleges and universities, as well as career and technical schools anywhere in the United States. Each award has its own deadline, with some closing as early as March 1 or as late as May. Students are encouraged to apply early to maximize their opportunities. Los Charros Foundation Scholarship Application
We welcome scholarship applications from all students no matter their grade point average or the high school they attend. We focus on recipients that are in financial need, but we also support students from all demographics. We have received scholarship applications from youth with varying backgrounds. We also award scholarships to students already enrolled in college or trade/vocational programs. Stradling Foundation Scholarship Applications
The Anne C. Stradling Equine Foundation is offering scholarships for students graduating in the Class of 2023 who attend public or parochial high school, trade school, or are home schooled in Santa Cruz County. County residents who attend high school in neighboring Pima or Cochise County are also eligible to apply. The awards are based on scholastic achievement, financial need, and extra curricular activities. Enrollment in an agricultural or related course of study is encouraged but not required. Interested high school seniors may apply online at: https://tinyurl.com/Stradlingscholarship2023 before April 17, 2023.
SCC Cowbelles Scholarship Applications
Two – $1000.00 scholarships/available for eligible graduating seniors from Santa Cruz County. Applications are due April 15, 2023.
