Update March 15, 2024:
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has released this update on the accident:
“At 2:06 pm on March 8 two bicyclists were struck by a vehicle on State Route 83 at milepost 34 south of Sonoita.
“Both bicyclists were transported by air to Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson.
“The collision is under investigation.”
March 8, 2024:
An accident involving bicyclists and a vehicle on SR83 occurred earlier today.
Two patients were evaluated at the scene and flown to Tucson for treatment.
SR83 was briefly shut down but is now open.
