Patagonia’s 8-5 win over Baboquivari

“I’ve coached a number of years,” said coach Ricardo Padilla, “and I’ve never seen this much excitement from a group of kids.”
Both girls and boys Lobos teams overcame shaky starts to achieve a measure of success greater than the previous year.
The Lady Lobos will play at Fort Thomas on Tuesday at 5pm in the first round of the Class 1A state tournament.
The Lobos’ fourth win in their past five games gives them a nice jolt of momentum heading into the super-regionals.
For the first time since 2016, the Patagonia Lobos girls basketball team will be playing in the state tournament.
With a little more than one week left in the regular season, both the Patagonia High boys and girls basketball teams are in the thick of the race for postseason play.
“This was our best effort of the year,” Lobos boys’ Coach Nate Porter said. Meanwhile, the Lobos’ girls team saw their record slip to 9-8.
“We work really hard on defense and the boys really hustle, but you’ve got to score points,” said Coach Nate Porter.
