Give much-needed support to our local providers of critical services at NO COST TO YOU!  Good food for those who need it. Important after-school programs for youth. And nutritious lunches, medical supplies and transportation for seniors to critical healthcare appointments.

You may already be taking advantage of a direct credit of hundreds of dollars off of your 2023 Arizona State taxes by donating to several of the region’s critical charities. If not, here’s the deal, and you have until April 15 to take advantage of it.

If you donate to the East Santa Cruz County Food Bank, Senior Citizens of Patagonia or the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center, they will benefit at no cost to you. Donate up to $421 for a single, for a married couple filing separately or head of household; or $841 for a married couple filing jointly, and it will be deducted from what you will owe the State of Arizona for 2023. This applies to donations made in 2023 or by April 15, 2024.* File one simple form (just google Arizona Tax Form 321) and attach receipts that the charities will send to you upon receiving your donation.

Arizona Tax Form 321 will ask you for a charity’s code.  Here they are:

East Santa Cruz County Community Food Bank, Inc – #20164

Family Healthcare Amigos – #20862

Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center – #20991

Senior Citizens of Patagonia – #20163

According to Chuck Kelly of the Senior Citizens of Patagonia, grants only cover half the cost of the weekday lunches served to area senior citizens. And for some, that lunch may be their main meal of the day. All these charities provide emergency and ongoing care to our communities, and all rely on individual donations.

There is a similar program which provides a tax credit up to a certain amount for donations to local school districts. See the Patagonia Schools and Sonoita Schools Districts’ website homepages for information.

Donate by April 15 to take advantage of this excellent way to help our community, FOR FREE!
