The folks at the Patagonia Regional Times did their due diligence when hiring me as their first full-time managing editor.

I initially interviewed with Executive Editor Amy Glass, then with Glass and reporter/board member Mary Tolena.
From there I sat separately with the hiring committee, the board, more reporters, the interim managing editor and even the page designer.
They were thorough. Very thorough.
And I completely understand why.
Since 2009, this publication has been a vital source of information for residents and visitors to Patagonia, Sonoita, Elgin and beyond.
The reporters, all volunteers, take great pride in their community and telling its stories.
They’ve kept the public informed with hyperlocal coverage, leaving readers better informed about the world around them.
They were looking for the right person for the job. I am honored they ultimately decided that I fit the bill.
I bring to the PRT more than 23 years of journalism experience, 20 of those spent as a reporter and editor at the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson.
For the last three years, I worked in a completely different news environment, as a digital content producer for Tucson’s ABC affiliate, KGUN 9.
I come with fresh eyes and a passion for sniffing out stories. I look forward to working with my new colleagues, many who have been writing for the PRT for years, to share those stories with you.
Please reach out (editor@prtnews.org) if you have ideas to pitch or just want to say, “Hi.”
I look forward to hearing from you.
