Wildfire in Elgin Area – Evacuations Ordered
A “large scale wildfire incident” is underway in Elgin.
Crews from Sonita-Elgin, Patagonia, Rio Rico, Nogales and Whetstone are responding to the fire.
Evacuation has been ordered for residents on Longview Loop Road.
Residents in the adjoining area should be ready to evacuate.
Residents who have been evacuated should report to 22 Los Encinos Road Sonoita, AZ 85637.
A livestock shelter accepting large animals has been established at the Santa Curz County Fairgrounds (3142 S. Highway 83 in Sonoita). Owners need to provide food and water buckets.
A shelter for evacuating residents has been established at the Patagonia Community United Methodist Church in Patagonia (387 McKeown Ave, Patagonia, AZ 85624).
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Santa Cruz County Alert System for “Emergency Management Alert” notices.
