Community Input Regarding Hermosa Project
SOOP Strategies Inc., an outside consulting firm hired by South32, is looking to get community input regarding the Hermosa project. Below are links to a survey they are conducting. Recycling Task Force to Halt Monthly Collections

Purple Heart Medal Recipients Eligible for Hunt and Fish License Discount
September 26, 2022 AZ Game and Fish is offering a 50 percent discount to Purple Heart recipients who have been Arizona residents for at least one full year. Click here for more info.
Astronomy Course Offered at the Library
News Release Ken Graun, author of several introductory books on astronomy, will offer six monthly classes designed for upper high school students and adults. Meetings will take place in the Patagonia Library and adjacent garden. The first session will be held on Sept. 24. Click here for more information.

Gary D Wofford May 6, 1945 โ August 6, 2022
Gary was born May 6, 1945 and passed away August 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde A. Wofford; his mother, Mildred I. Wofford; and sister, Carolyn Cummings. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Lukert) Wofford; son, Daniel (Allison) Wofford; and grandson, Silas Patrick Wofford. A Celebration of Garyโs life will be October 2, 1:30 p.m. at The Rose, 1119 Washington, Avenue, Golden, CO 80401. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Foodbank of the Rockies Western Slope Branch, 120 N River Rd., Palisade, CO 81526; the East Santa Cruz County Community Food Bank, 222 Third Avenue, Patagonia, AZ 85624; or Southern Poverty Law Center. Condolences to the family may be left at www.legacyfuneralhomegj.com at his online obituary.

Coffee with the Chief Stop by the Sonoita-Elgin Fire station on Saturday, October. 29 from 900 to 1030a.m. to enjoy a cup of coffee and chat informally with Chief Meredith. Information about the latest at the department, upcoming activities and items of importance to the community will be available.



Community School Information



Patagonia High School presents, Cafรฉ Murder! A murder mystery interactive dinner theatre! Tickets will go on sale Mon., October 3 in the school office. Production dates are Tue. and Wed. October 25 and at 5pm.
There will be a limited number of seats available for each show, so buy your tickets early! There will be NO sales at the door! Tickets are $10 individually or $50 for an entire table (seats 6 to a round table). Dinner will include 3 courses and a beverage. Contact Journee Hayes with any questions.

Items of Interest in Our Community
Non Perishable Food Drive – Crossroads Mission Nogales is holding a non-perishable food drive in October to stock its food pantry. This is an urgent need. Crossroads Mission Nogales feeds over 100 meals daily plus provide emergency food bags/shelter to individuals and families in need. Crossroads Mission is the only homeless shelter, addiction program and domestic abuse shelter in Santa Cruz County, AZ. Non perishable food items like canned soup, vegetables, tuna. chili, pasta, rice, beans, etc. can be dropped off at the Crossroads Mission Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm. Patagonia Volunteer Fire and Rescue will be serving our famous burgers again at this years Sky Island Artisan Market in Patagonia. October 8-9 at the south end of the park. And new this year you will be able to enjoy a BEER with that mesquite charcoal grilled 1/3lb burger!

Sonoita has a very small “billiards club”. We generally try to get together to play pool every two weeks, but it’s pretty informal and sometimes we’ll skip a week and pick up again on an off week. Volunteer Opportunity
Crossroads Mission Nogales will serve their annual Thanksgiving Dinner to hundreds of families on SAT. NOVEMBER 19. If you’d like to help serve those in need a Thanksgiving meal plus provide food boxes, please go to the website for additional information. Volunteer Coordinator Victoria Vanderhoof will contact you. Church and service groups are welcome with open arms. Crossroads Mission Nogales is the only homeless / addiction recovery center in Santa Cruz County. There are two volunteer shifts:
*8am to 11am (cook, serve food, distribute food boxes) *11am to 2pm (serve food, distribute food boxes, clean up)
