South32 Releases Hermosa Mine Plan of Operations
South32 has released the Mine Plan of Operations (MPO) for its $2 billion Hermosa project. This federally mandated, 215-page document offers a detailed insight into how South32 plans to operate the mining project from start to finish. PRT “My Furry Valentine” Photo Contest!

The 2024 PRT “My Furry Valentineโ photo contest is underway as we celebrate our companion animals and the unconditional love they bring to our lives. Itโs easy to participate. Please submit your photo and entry info to prtasted@gmail.com by Friday, February 9, 2024, to be considered. There are 10 DAYS LEFT to send in your photos. Photo Rules: Participants may enter up to 3 photos in as many categories as you like! Please include in your email: Name of the photographer, your pets name(s) and what you love most about your Animal Valentine. Please make sure photos are well-focused, sharp images that are high resolution.

Investigation into Former SEFD Chief Burns Out
In a letter dated Dec. 5, 2023, the Office of the AZ Attorney General Criminal Division and Special Investigation Section stated that they have decided not to initiate any further investigation involving the circumstances involving the 2021 SEFD Board termination of former SEFD Fire Chief DeWolf. The Elgin Community Club offers two $1000 scholarships for 2024 graduating seniors living in the Sonoita, Elgin and Patagonia area. Students attending Patagonia HS can pick up an application from Mr. Michael Young. Applicants eligable for the grant need to plan to attend a university, community college or trade school. We would like to give you a financial boost as you prepare for your future. Sonoita Residents Rally Against Dollar General

A donkey draped with the slogan, ‘I Only Shop at Mom & Pops’ was at the Sonoita crossroads on Nov. 19, along with nearly a hundred other demonstrators on foot and on horseback. They chanted, ‘No Dollar General!’ and ‘Buy Local!’ as they marched outside the construction site of the chain store.

The PRT is published on the first Friday of every month (except July and September) and is available at these distribution points while supplies last.
Submitting Community Events to the PRT
The PRT is committed to sharing details and information about upcoming community events with our readers at no cost in our weekly e-newsletter. Due to the large number of submissions, the PRT will no longer be able to post each and every poster in our newsletter. We will share a link to your event page or poster, or a brief description of each event. Each week we will post one or two event flyers. Please share your events via email at least one week prior to the event date. Poster submissions require a JPEG format along with a brief typed description about the event in your email to Nisa Talavera, Assistant Editor at prtasted@gmail.com. All submissions for the Wednesday e-newsletter must be submitted by Monday, 5pm.

The Food Pantry in Sonoita is in need of donations such as proteins, canned chicken breast in particular, also low on peanut butter and jelly and beef stew. They also have a freezer now so can accept frozen goods. Please contact Joy at the Corner scoop for donation drop off times. They are also accepting dog food now.

Community Employment Opportunities
The Santa Cruz Humane Society is looking to hire a cat kennel worker. Must like cats, must be able to lift around 30 lbs (bags of litter and cat food), and no allergies to cats. Job does require a lot bending and kneeling. Wednesday to Sunday with 34 hours weekly and possibility of making 40 hours weekly. Job includes – cleaning, showing cats to potential adopters, give medication to sick cats, and socialize with cats.
