John Meyers Schroeder

John Meyers Schroeder, 71, of Elgin, AZ, died at his home, surrounded by family, on October 17, 2023. John was born in Burlington, IA on June 14, 1952, the son of Frederick A (Fritz) Schroeder and Bette Ann Tower Schroeder. He moved to Arizona in 1970 and began learning the masonry trade that he practiced, becoming a master of this trade throughout his entire adult life, while also becoming an accomplished craftsman in woodworking.
John met his life partner, Karrie Knapp, in 1982, they were married in 1984 and together welcomed and raised two sons, Samuel Meyers and Luke William.
John enjoyed fishing, gathering with friends at their home and elsewhere, visiting with extended family, arm wrestling and sitting on the porch of his workshop, sipping wine.
John is survived by his wife, Karrie; two sons, Sam and Luke (Madeline); four grandchildren, Elliana Quinn, Garin Meyers, Miriam Grace and Walter James; his sister, Sister Jacqueline Schroeder, OSF; ten nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews, and a multitude of cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Fritz and Bette Schroeder; four siblings, Larry, Ric, Mary and Ann; niece Hyatt Ahlam, and great niece, Maddie Brielle.
A Rosary wake service will be offered on Friday evening, Oct. 27 at 6:00pm at Our Lady of the Angels Mission Church in Sonoita, AZ. Funeral will take place on Saturday morning, Ovt. 28 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Angels followed immediately by the burial at the Lucky S ranch, 104 Blue Sky Lane, Elgin, AZ and then gathering of friends and family for a luncheon, fellowship, and storytelling.
