PRT “My Furry Valentine” Photo Contest!
The PRT is excited to launch our 2024 โMy Furry Valentineโ photo contest to celebrate our companion animals and the unconditional love they bring to our lives. Itโs easy to participate. Please submit your photo and entry info to prtasted@gmail.com by Friday, February 9, 2024, to be considered. Photo Rules: Participants may enter up to 3 photos in as many categories as you like! Please include in your email: Name of the photographer, your pets name(s) and what you love most about your Animal Valentine. Please make sure photos are well-focused, sharp images that are high resolution.

The winners in each category will be honored with a $25 donation made in their pet’s name to one of the following local animal rescue/charities of their choice – SCC Humane Society, Kitty Kasa in Sonoita or Whispers Sanctuary in Canelo. Photos must contain domestic pets (no wildlife). Color and Black/White photos are acceptable. No professional photographers please. Pastor Says Goodbye to Patagonia

Pastor Patty arrived in town to closed doors. It was just after the Covid pandemic started and her new church, Patagonia Community United Methodist, was, like most businesses in town, locked down. So she had no idea who her congregation members were, and never got to meet them for over a year, except by talking over the air to imagined listeners on the weekly radio broadcast she created. Steve Getzwiller: A Visionary Straddling Two Worlds

When the Sonoita-based textile trader Steve Getzwiller died last August at age 74, he left behind a remarkable legacy in the world of Navajo weaving. Ahead of the celebration of life for Steve being held this Saturday, January 20 at the Fairgrounds, Carrie White looks at Steve’s life and work, talking with the Navajo weavers, fellow traders, gallery owners and family members who knew him best. PUHS Boys Dominate Valley Union; Girls Fall, 48-38

Revisiting Patagonia After 75 Years

The PRT is published on the first Friday of every month (except July and September) and is available at these distribution points while supplies last.
Submitting Community Events to the PRT
The PRT is committed to sharing details and information about upcoming community events with our readers at no cost in our weekly e-newsletter. Due to the large number of submissions, the PRT will no longer be able to post each and every poster in our newsletter. We will share a link to your event page or poster, or a brief description of each event. Each week we will post one or two event flyers. Please share your events via email at least one week prior to the event date. Poster submissions require a JPEG format along with a brief typed description about the event in your email to Nisa Talavera, Assistant Editor at prtasted@gmail.com. All submissions for the Wednesday e-newsletter must be submitted by Monday, 5pm.

Jan. 27: – 2pm – The Frances Causey documentary film, Coronado: The New Evidence, will be shown. The film documents the discovery of artifacts from the 1540-1542 Coronado Expedition through Santa Cruz County including the first established Spanish colony and first successful Native American revolt in what is now the United States. Tickets are $15 at the Patagonia Trading Post. $20 at the door. Doors open at 1pm.

Longtime Sonoita area resident, Mickey Ginsburg is in hospice care. He was well known in the community for assisting residents and families with their healthcare needs throughout the years as the owner of the Old Pueblo Pharmacy in Sonoita for over 22 years. Mickey and his family would welcome cards and letters of support.
