Everyone generates garbage. No matter how hard we try with composting, recycling, repurposing, we still create garbage.
The town of Patagonia picks up the community garbage on Mondays and Fridays. The town recently implemented a new ordinance, #21-03, which states that all trash must be bagged and in a sealed container with a lid to protect the health and safety of the sanitation workers.
Garbage bags, which should be placed in a secure container, are limited to 50 pounds. The town workers are not responsible for any unsecured garbage.
The new ordinance is not only to protect our sanitation workers. Securing your garbage will also eliminate the dogs, javelinas, birds and the wind from turning unsecured garbage into litter.
Securing your garbage is the first step in eliminating the litter that is polluting our town.
