Charles Van Nest, the suspect in the stabbing incident that occurred in Patagonia on October 4, is in custody. Here is the press release from the Patagonia Marshal’s office:

“On October 4th, 2019 and in the early morning hours of October 5th, 2019. The Patagonia Marshal’s Office, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Office and other Agencies responded to an incident at 256 N. 3rd Ave Patagonia, AZ 85624.
The incident was reported to the 911 system. As the Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident and making sure we have communication with the victim and her family. The investigation is ongoing and search for the alleged suspect and facts are being investigated. Charles William VanNest was taken into custody at a residence in Patagonia, AZ.
The Patagonia Marshal’s Office would like to thank the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, The United States Border Patrol, Santa Cruz County Attorney’s Office, Patagonia Volunteer Fire and Sonoita Fire Department for their incredible assistance in putting a calm and peaceful resolution the incident.”
