Fire crews have stopped forward progress of the Longview Fire that began Sunday afternoon some time around 3pm. According to an eyewitness account, the fire started at a vacant barn on Longview Loop Rd. in Elgin. Approximately 553 acres have burned so far.

Multiple agencies throughout Santa Cruz and Cochise counties responded to the fire. Currently the fire is under unified command between Sonoita-Elgin Fire District, the AZ Department of Fire and Forestry Management.

No injuries have been reported and all evacuations have been lifted. One barn and outbuilding, a travel trailer and an additional structure with some interior damage have been reported.
