The PRT is a non profit tax exempt organization and donations are deductible to the full extent of the law. The Board of Directors is comprised of local residents who believe that the Patagonia/ Sonoita/ Elgin/Canelo communities benefit from having a quality paper that is written by locals focusing on local issues, people, organizations, and events. In the past we have partnered with Patagonia Union High School to support student journalism by running student written articles in every edition. We publish advertisements from businesses that are based in Santa Cruz County and serve the residents of Patagonia, Sonoita, Elgin, and Canelo. We print 2500 copies of the PRT every month and estimate that over 4000 people read it every month.
The PRT is a lean machine, still very reliant on volunteers, but core staff and operating expenses (for example printing and insurance) cost money. We are increasing our advertising revenue to cover a greater portion of our expenses, but they must be supplemented by annual donations and small grants to keep us afloat. We have already raised over $10,500 this year, and need at least $7500 more to meet our 2018 expenses.
If you read the paper and you agree that it is an important asset to our communities, please support us by making a regular monthly donation (our favorite because they provide steady cash flow), annual gift, or both. We are grateful for your support and we depend upon it! Thank you.
